Does this seem like a product that could be easily used against the user? Maybe I am just easily spooked by a product that can broadcast your location twenty-four hours a day. These could be used to track a spouse or intimidate an elderly relative.
On a less alarmist note, this technology (or really a methodology) would be ideal for backpackers.
